Can you upload The Divorcee (1930)?

[edit]

There's a very high quality DVD rip of the film here. Thing is, it is 8 gigabytes. Since your familiar with big chunked uploads, I was wondering if you were able to upload the film onto Commons. PublicDomainFan08 (talk) 04:53, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @PublicDomainFan08, thanks for letting me know. The Divorcee was actually supposed to have been in the earlier batch of files, but either I accidentally skipped it or there was some kind of upload error. I'll retry uploading it to File:The Divorcee (1930).webm in a little bit. hinnk (talk) 09:32, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! However, the Wayback link I sent says 1080p, so it may be higher quality that the one you uploaded. Just figured I'd let you know. PublicDomainFan08 (talk) 18:59, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oh awesome, that's definitely an improvement. I'm going to be going through the videos added to IA for Public Domain Day soon, and I'll make sure to include this. hinnk (talk) 19:53, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Just a small suggestion, if you find a high quality version of The Royal Family of Broadway, could you upload it as well? I uploaded one here however I have a feeling a higher quality version exists somewhere (either online or DVD). PublicDomainFan08 (talk) 10:01, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm not familiar with it, I don't have a copy of it or anything. hinnk (talk) 07:13, 4 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Just wanted to thank you for uploading all these, and the thank function just isn't enough for the scale of what you do. You're a trooper for making everybody's New Year awesome! SnowyCinema (talk) 23:32, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Happy to help! hinnk (talk) 07:14, 4 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Thanks for uploading this. I have noticed the template {{PD-in}}, and I think it is wrong for France, at least. AFAIK France uses the rule of shorter term, so US works in the public domain in USA should be in the public domain in France. Yann (talk) 08:54, 4 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I never use the {{PD-in}} template (for basically this reason, too easy to add misinformation), so I don't really want to get involved with monitoring the ones that other people have added. hinnk (talk) 12:58, 4 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Back Pay (1930).webm

[edit]

Hello, the video shows the incurrent film Passion Flower instead of Back Pay. Greefan443 (talk) 10:13, 6 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I started a Video2commons job with the correct file and have been waiting for it to finish. Thanks for letting me know. hinnk (talk) 10:18, 6 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Add some films to enwiki

[edit]

hey there, if you could please add The Commons files for 1930 Laurel and Hardy 1930 films like murder case or night owls, and 1928 While The City Sleeps. These have been overlooked on enwiki.

Thank you! ShrockDwayne (talk) 18:19, 8 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Mammy (1930)

[edit]

It's been a few weeks and I noticed this hasn't been uploaded to Commons yet. Do you have a copy? (I know there's a lot of blackface in it obviously but it is historically significant...) SnowyCinema (talk) 01:01, 14 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
