Undeletion request

[edit]

Hi you just mentioned at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Ahmad Vaezi.jpg, to feel free to request undeletion. I had already updated the source to the original [1] which literally states at the bottom "using the content is allowed by citing this source" which I have. Best. Xpander (talk) 15:23, 8 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

I'm confused. The source was rasanews.ir, but the template was {{Tasnim}}. There's no indication that the photo was taken by Tasnim. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 21:03, 8 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@The Squirrel Conspiracy, The Template:Tasnim is probably correct (as it mentions CC-4.0 at the bottom) but in the request I provided a more original source [2] which states Template:Attribution only license. Xpander (talk) 08:16, 7 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Kindly reminder. Xpander (talk) 11:19, 8 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I think it's best if you go through COM:UNDEL. I'm clearly missing something here. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 07:49, 9 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Was there EXIF in the original version, and if so, did it get stripped with your edit? JayCubby (talk) 00:09, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Deleted file

[edit]

Hello, regarding your deletion of the file:عبد القيوم المقدمي.jpg, I would appreciate it if you could reconsider. I need the image because I will be participating in a Wikimedia conference and they have requested a personal photo with the proper license. Some of my colleagues have photos published on Wikimedia Commons already, What's the problem with my picture 🙃? thanks. Abade Talk with me 17:35, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

✓ Done Sorry about that. I should never have deleted it in the first place, since you have several thousand contributions. Not sure how I didn't notice that before. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 19:26, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

State flags in 3:2 aspect ratio

[edit]

You were the one who deleted some US state flags in 3:2 aspect ratio a couple months ago, which I strongly disagree with. Look, I know they are not the correct aspect ratio for some of them, but that doesn't necessarily mean the files are out of scope. I am one of the individuals who find them useful because I use them in projects for consistency. So it would be nice to see the files again, as I know for a fact that they are in scope. ~2025-33541-27 (talk) 18:13, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Category:Computer Entertainer

[edit]

Hi, It seems many of these files have a display issue. Apparently just reuploading fix it: File:Computer Entertainer 3-11.pdf. And the files should be license reviewed, just in case, the source disappears. Regards, Yann (talk) 19:03, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

The display issue happens to a lot of PDFs. I think the WMF needs to fix something. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 19:55, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Please reconsidering deletion

[edit]

File talk:Sportswear & Sneaker Fetish Pride Flag (f.A.b) copie 1,5 for Screens.svg

And FabAlyon pages

I don’t understand why this pages and materials are deleted on 6th October 2025, this materials are commonly use free by lot of people in my community. Would you please reconsidered this deletion because we needs it 🙏🙏

Here is a description of the files : Sportswear and Sneaker fetish pride flag .svg Freedom of eroticized gears expressions for all. It was designed by FabAlyon and was first displayed at the 2018 Mr. Sportswear Contest in Paris and France. It was adopted by many as a symbol for sportswear and sneaker kink, in Belgium, Netherland, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland and by extension by USE européen associations federation about this kink since 2023 ; and any proud aficionado of this kink or related practices. FabAlyon intends for each person to “make it yours” this Pride Flag. Here is the interpretation, according : Ms. Sportswear France 2017 : "The blue background is about sexually playing, stripes and coma shapes is about sports brandings, yellow for watersports, white for cum and bators, black for doms and rubbers wearing lot of sneakers. And the red stamp is for materials commonly worn (and eroticized) in our community." — Preceding unsigned comment added by FabAlyon (talk • contribs) 11:48, 28 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Schéma CRDM.png

[edit]

Hello,

the file Schéma CRDM.png was recently deleted under criterion F10 (personal files by non-contributors). I understand that the image was removed because it was not used in any publicly available article. However, the reason it wasn’t used is that editing the article is an assignment for my university course, and I need to consult the changes with my supervisor before publishing them.
Therefore, I would like to ask whether it would be possible to restore the file, or whether I may re-upload it so that I can complete my assignment and publish the updated article.
Best regards,

About soyjaks

[edit]

>Derivative work of non-free content
Soyjaks are extremely difficult for anyone or any group to claim ownership. While there may be one original author, it is extremely unlikely to be able to track him down. The creator is anonymous, and would be extremely tough he would be able to prove he made it, and he has let entire groups and websites reuse and extend his work.

  • The origin of the soyjak image is messy due to the nature of 4chan.
  • Authorship is very challenging to prove.
  • Enforcement is practically nonexistent.

The image I uploaded (the "concerned soyjak") is a derivative and relies on the same anonymous, practically untraceable origins, making enforcement equally unlikely. Same with the Wojak meme. I hope it's not the case that you removed it just because you didn't like it. Soynorth (talk) 20:32, 5 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

The fact that ownership is unclear does not mean that it doesn't have copyright. In fact, copyright law has clauses for anonymous/pseudonymous work. "Nobody knows who the copyright owner is, so it really doesn’t matter." is specifically called out as an argument that can't be used on Commons, at COM:PCP. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 21:30, 5 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I’m not suggesting that nobody knows who made it so it doesn’t matter, only that the in the real-world, it is functionally impossible for anyone to claim ownership or or rights in any meaningful way. Not only this, but most soyjaks, including the one I uploaded, are very basic line art.
The Wojak has had a decade of circulation online, without any enforcement, and the original "soyak" itself is simply a derivative work of the Wojak.
Wikimedia Commons needs permission from the copyright holder, but if nobody knows who the copyright holder is, then it will never get permissed. Whether or not copyright technically exists is put behind the fact that the work cannot be licensed in practice. Commons policy requires a clear license and trackable authorship, both of which are impossible for Soyjak images.
Finally, The amount of thousands of variants, most with no identifiable source, makes it impossible to determine which version (if any) can be tied to an author. Soynorth (talk) 21:45, 5 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
You are free to make that argument at COM:UNDEL, but I doubt it will be successful. As I pointed to above, COM:PCP addresses this pretty clearly. Sorry. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 21:51, 5 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I contest your file deletion of, "The Black Vault.jpg", since I believe there is sufficient proof that the logo is AI-generated. COM:GRAFFITI

[edit]

Hello, there. Sorry for my bad English. I only want to express my concerns about COM:GRAFFITI. Not for the copyright rules, that I agree, but also for the graffiti located publicly in Spain. Normally it applies COM:FOP Spain. I assume the graffiti categories are reviewed for legal notices and deleted if not. But I am worried that some graffiti in outdoors in Spain (according to the Spanish law: en parques, calles, plazas u otras vías públicas, literally in English, in parks, streets, squares or other public thoroughfares) might be deleted without any revision.

Don't get me wrong, I approve these reviews, I just only ask to be a little careful with graffiti where the country applies Freedom of panorama. Thanks for your attention.-- Docosong (talk) 12:53, 27 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I have a question regarding the deletion of the file mentioned in the title. Could you please explain the reason it was speedily deleted under criterion G10? COM:AIP ratification

[edit]

Hello TSC,

when can a proposed guideline or policy be taken as ratified? The proposal for COM:AIP is now open for roundabout one month, I was actually thinking that this month looks like a decent time as RfC duration. But as that is also the first one I engaged with, I totally don't know the usual practice about durations and when a closure is due. Can you tell me more, perhaps?
